There’s Always Room for Improvement!
This election is going to set the tone and the strength of our collective power and will be instrumental in raising or lowering our job satisfaction and compensation index as we prepare for our next Collective Agreement.
Welcome ex Swoopters and welcome Sunwing! This is a great time to be WestJet proud as we build and grow our brand. How will the Employer manage this unification including the Sunwing takeover? What are the true dividing factors? How does this constantly shifting landscape affect all CCMs including Encorians who flowed and lost various years of inflight seniority? Are bases reopening?
Rosie the “Resuscitator” Streete
for CUPE 4070 VP
Let’s Lead by Example Together!
The elected CUPE 4070 Vice President must ensure both a constantly accountable executive and WestJet group of companies. The role requires a leader who knows how to identify, understand and act on implied and expressed needs.
A GREAT LEADER UNDER PROMISES AND OVER DELIVERS: ANYONE HERE? SPEAK TO ME!
Be the catalyst for positive and progressive change. Elect a leader who is relatable, effectively communicates and is committed to working toward the greater good for all. One who is immediately adaptable, transformative, and proactive. I am here for the Long Haul and together, we will do the heavy lifting.
I am ready, willing, and able to offer my essential legal, outreach and engagement skills to help navigate CUPE Local 4070 into our next Collective Agreement. Let’s Lead by Example together with our members who entrust us to make brighter, more informed decisions. Proactive and Reactive transformative leadership is what I represent. Successful bargaining and negotiations are what I do best.
EVERY DAY IS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO BARGAIN DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF EACH DAY. SHOW US THE MONEY: UNPAID WORK WON’T FLY!
The difference between paid and unpaid employment is money. We didn’t volunteer to be Flight Attendants. We earn our jobs on a yearly basis. CCMs can no longer accept unpaid duties and responsibilities. 34-9.01 “Duty periods are calculated from the Cabin Personnel’s Report time to their Release Time” Our pay should be calculated using the same formula!
BARGAINING IS ABOUT WHO IS RIGHT, AND NEGOTIATIONS ARE ABOUT WHAT IS RIGHT.
A vote for me means, I will impartially lead the necessary conversations with our Board and our Members to weigh the pros and cons to move us closer toward our common purpose. Let’s renew outreach and engagement, restore lost confidences, and increase CCMs job satisfaction to create a more harmonious employee-employer relationship in the true spirit of a union.
A Collective Agreement is not about price alone, will never be a single issue, and requires an honest and integral approach to remove vague language that is liable to more than one interpretation and heavily favours one party over the other.
PUT THE APPEAL BACK IN THE TEAL: THERE’S ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.
I have the time, dedication, and knowledge to motivate and steer CUPE Local 4070 to deliver on that opportunity and Lead by Example Together with unconditional positive regard for every Cabin Crew Member. The expectation exists for a CUPE Local 4070 Vice President to deliver quality, focused, and timely service. We are an engine of change to take us farther and draw us closer to our collective goals.
Let us forge ahead together with a diverse, inclusive and equitable leadership team who cares from the heart, has the experience, the vision, mission and identified values that are the core of our strength, our growth and our worth. A great leader undertakes to enable invested parties to feel good about the outcomes and creates a platform where they can respectfully return to the table for future dialogue on another day.
ACCESSIBLE AND UNLIMITED MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT IS A MUST!
Not all CCMs will access the “covered” mental health support. The ones who need it shouldn’t have restrictive access. Our work environment is unpredictable. Situations arises and we say, “I didn’t sign up for this!” but there we are, still giving our all.
How did the Employer precisely predict and calculate individual CCMs unique mental health needs for discovery, therapy and recovery at a limited five (5) hours? We have airport sits between flights totalling longer than that.
ARE YOU TIRED OF BEING TIRED?
The best way to manage CCMs fatigue is to build schedules that do not essentially set up CCMs to be fatigued on their current or future pairings. Let’s Advocate for pairings that do not set up our CCMs for failure, exhaustion, or preventable fatigue. Money for fatigue is not an incentive. We deserve safety first approaches and excellent support and follow-up for CCMs injured while on duty.
We need a Collective Agreement that is not ambiguous, vague, advantageous or prone to misinterpretation. The Employer must be held accountable to address and amend articles that violate and/ or infringe on the rights of CCMs or conflict with other articles in the CA to the disadvantage of our CCMs. Advocate and Demand a true Seniority Based Preferential Bidding System. Advocate for Employer driven supportive conditions for our commuters to get to work and home.
Let me put my skillsets and education to work for you, for us, CUPE 4070.

I Did it for Results, Not Recognition
Originally from Jamaica, our family immigrated to Hull, Quebec in 1974 where I became fluent in French. I was five-and-a-half years old. Three years later we moved, and I grew up in our nation's capital, Ottawa and lived there until I left for university in the summer...
